Welcome to Physics! I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn and study with you this semester. This paper outlines my expectations, requirements and grading policy. Please read through it, sign it and keep it in the front of your notebook.

Required Supplies
The following supplies will be needed for this class:
- BLUE or BLACK Pens and pencils
- Scientific or graphing Calculator
- 2 inch three ring binder
- 4 notebook dividers
- Loose leaf paper
Class Rules
The rules for this class are simple and straightforward:
- Show Respect.
- For other students
- For the teacher
- For yourself
- Eating and Drinking in the classroom is NOT permitted. Food brought into the classroom will be thrown away.
- Be on time. 3 lates = a detention; every late after three = a detention
- Come to class prepared each day to work . this includes having your notebook, paper, a calculator and a writing utensil each day! Three or more warnings will result in a phone call home and a possible detention.
- Remain seated before the dismissal bell.
Discipline Policy:
If you choose to break the class rules, the following discipline procedure will be followed:
1st offense: warning
2nd offense: phone call home
3rd
offense: referral to the discipline office
** Should the offense be severe enough,
the teacher reserves the right to refer you to the discipline office
immediately.**
Grading Policy:
Each of these methods will carry a certain percentage of the marking period grade.
Formative - 40% Summative . 60%
**Each student will be responsible for his/her own grade.
Homework/Classwork:
Homework is considered to be formative assessments. To receive full credit for a homework assignment all work must be shown. Homework is due at the beginning of class . it is considered late after that time.
Labs:
Lab assignments will is considered to be formative assessments. Because this is a science class, several labs will be assigned throughout each marking period. Initial lab work will be done in class, but final lab reports may need to be completed at home.
Quizzes:
Quizzes are considered to be summative
assessments.
Tests:
Tests is considered to be summative
assessments. There will be a test after every chapter or unit.
Test and Quiz Make-up:
If you are absent on the day of a quiz
or test, you have one week to make-up the grade. Make-up days
are Tuesday and Thursday each week.
Notebooks:
You
must have your notebook in class each day. Expect to have a
notebook check 1-2 times a marking period, therefore you must keep
your notebook in order and up-to-date.

Blank paper should be kept in the back of your notebook at all times!
Make-up Work:
It is your responsibility to make-up
assignments when you have been absent for any reason. You have one week
from the day you return to turn in any missed work.
Extra Help:
Extra help is always available on
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 until approximately 4:00. Other
times are available before and after school if you make prior arrangements.
Summer School:
The school district has established new
cut scores for students who fail courses and participate in summer school
as a result. Students who score between a 58 and 69 will participate
in regular summer school. Any student who scores below a 58 must
not only participate in summer school, but will have additional district
requirements as well in order to receive make up credit.
